I’m Curious, What Now? Tips for the Religiously Curious.

So you’re religiously curious but you’re not sure where to go from there? The first ever Name the Unknown interview is for you!

The goal of this two-part interview is to help people who realize they need to take religion more seriously come to some firm, well-grounded beliefs about the spiritual world using their own mind (rather than ours or someone else’s).

In this interview I ask my long-time friend and mentor, Jim Shaul (whose sermons have been posted regularly on this site) to give his advice to someone who realizes they should give religion more serious consideration. For those folks, my hope is for them to stumble across this interview and come away with some options for next steps.

Interview w/ Jim Shaul [Part 1 of 2]

Although both parts are helpful for people of all beliefs, the first part of the interview specifically addresses folks with the following beliefs:

  • I don’t believe in God. [Atheists]
  • I’m not sure if there’s a God, how do I find out? [Agnostics]

The second part of the interview addresses folks with these beliefs:

  • I think there’s spiritual stuff but not some sort of all-powerful bully God. (I’m spiritual but not religious.)
  • I do believe in God.
  • I already have a firm faith in my current religion.
